How to Handle Color Differences in Automotive Repair Paints
What methods can we adopt to address the issue of color difference after car paint spraying? It is almost impossible for a car paint repair to be exactly the same as the original paint, as the color of the paint can only be close to a certain degree, which cannot be seen with the naked eye. In dealing with the issue of color difference after automotive paint spraying, it is believed that three methods can be adopted for automotive repair paint: one is the method of gradually fading the seam; The second method is to use double-layer adhesive tape for partial spraying; The third method is to use the door or body part boundary discount as the boundary for partial spray painting. The specific introduction here is as follows:
1、 The method of gradually thinning the tongue. When it is not possible to mix the color of the repaired paint with the old paint film, the color of some of the repaired paint can gradually be filtered to be similar to the color of the old paint film during the construction operation. When spraying the final layer, an appropriate amount of the same type is added to the previously diluted paint material, which can alleviate the color difference between the new and old paint after treatment.
2、 Partial spraying method using double-layer adhesive tape. Use the double tape technique to conceal the changes in the vehicle body and model, such as the viewpoint, before spraying. First, use the first tape along the folding edge and add concealing paper, stick it above the edge of the viewpoint, and then stick the second tape above the first tape. After partial rectification, the visual difference between the brightness of the adjacent two sides of the viewpoint can be used to slow down the chromaticity difference between new and old paint. This method is more effective for silver based paint. It should be clarified that when spraying onto two layers of adhesive tape, the thickness should be minimized as much as possible. After the paint film is dry and the tape is torn off, it must be polished to prevent hard edges from appearing.
3、 Use the door or body part as the boundary for partial spraying. Before spraying, the damaged area should be smoothed and coated with two coats. The old paint film on the area that needs to be sprayed should be sanded with 280 #~400 # water sandpaper, washed with solvent, and then partially sprayed. After partial spraying, it can be transferred in by using the boundary folding between components.
